Video Capture

Question: What is the Intel Smart Video Recorder III and what does it do?
The Intel Smart Video Recorder III (ISVR III) is a video capture board offered by Intel. It is capable of one-step capture and compression of Indeo® video Release 3.2 video data with a resolution of 320 by 240 at thirty frames per second on a Pentium® processor-based system. The ISVR III can also capture video in a nearly lossless format called Indeo video Raw for later off-line compression using either Indeo video interactive or Indeo video Release 3.2. The ISVR III can accept composite or Svideo inputs from any NTSC or PAL analog video source.

Question: Is a capture card available for capturing video in real time using Indeo® video interactive?
Yes. Digital Video * is producing a real-time capture and compression card for Indeo video interactive. See Tools and Service Providers.

Question: I want to capture still images. Can the ISVR III do this?
The ISVR III can capture still images up to a resolution of 640 by 480. It can also capture motion video at 640 by 480 at very low frame rates. The ISVR III comes bundled with the Asymetrix Digital Video Producer*, a digital video capture and editing utility that can capture still images. Other video capture utilities can also be used to capture stills.

Question: What is the difference between capturing single frames and capturing still images?
Single frames are captured in the YVU9 Raw format; still images are captured in the RGB 24 format.
